Here is a handy checklist for those who need to do an end of tenancy cleaning. It is a much easier job if one approaches it in an organized fashion.
Some General Tips:
1) Be sure to clean all windows, including tracks and sills.
2) Clean all floors that are not carpeted.

8) Clean and polish doorknobs.
9) Clean all baseboards.
10) Clean inside closets including rods and shelves.
11) Be sure to remove all trash from the premises.
12) Make sure fire alarms are functioning properly.
13) Repair any damage caused by tenant and replace any broken window glass.

For Bathrooms:
1) Clean all tilework and grout.
2) Clean showers, shower doors, bathtubs and any surrounding tile..
3) Clean the toilet inside and out.
4) Clean bathroom sinks.
5) Clean the mirror and medicine cabinet.
6) Clean bathroom floor.
For Kitchens:
1) Clean refrigerator thoroughly, removing and cleaning drawers and shelves. Use warm water and mild detergent.
2) Clean under and behind refrigerator.
3) Clean oven and range top and hood. Be careful with caustic oven cleaners. You may want to use a professional for tough oven cleaning jobs.
4) Clean sinks thoroughly.
5) Clean all cupboards and cupboard doors, making sure to discard any old shelf paper.
6) Clean under appliances and be sure to leave refrigerator plugged in and running (on a low setting).
7) Clean counters, remove any stains, and be sure to polish all fixtures.
